8 Conditions That Improve With Ozone Therapy

Ozone therapy treatment started in the United States in the early 1980s even though it has been used throughout Europe for various diseases and conditions for many decades.

Ozone is a gas with three oxygen atoms. It has been used to stimulate immune functions and works in conjunction with your body’s ability to heal itself.

Ozone therapy works by increasing the amount of oxygen in your body. It can be blown into the body as a gas, used as a part of ozonated water, and can be applied to the skin.

There are many conditions that may benefit from ozone therapy, including:

1. Stops the Spread of Infections

Ozone inhibits the development and growth of bacteria, which can help to stop the spread of infections. Medical grade ozone has been shown to deactivate protozoa, viruses, fungi, and yeast.

If you come down with a cold or virus, doing an IV ozone treatment may help reduce the severity and length of your illness.

2. Repairs Wounds

When the body has wounds that aren’t healing properly, ozone therapy can help reduce pain and speed up healing with its disinfectant properties. When compared to standard treatments, ozone therapy provided faster results.

Ozone elicits mild oxidative stress or disinfection of the wound. It can be used as an advanced care treatment for chronic wounds.

3. Heals Respiratory Disorders

When you’ve got a respiratory disorder or even an acute illness, ozone therapy may help. The lungs supply oxygen to your blood, and ozone therapy provides the body with a flood of oxygen, and the treatment can minimize stress on the lungs.

Ozone has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties which makes it an inexpensive and easily available treatment against viruses, especially ones that can cause mild to moderate pneumonia.

4. Resolves Dental Issues

As ozone is helpful in eradicating bacteria, many dentists have started using it in varying degrees in their dental practices. Ozone therapy is painless and can help reduce treatment time and increase tolerability.

Dentists and ozone therapists mainly use ozone as ozone water to supply the mouth with a flood of ozone. They also may use insufflations of the gas to certain areas of the teeth or mouth.

5. Cancer Treatment Options

Human cells require oxygen to function properly, and ozone therapy saturates the blood with oxygen. Cancer cells cannot survive in high oxygen concentrations, so when the body undergoes ozone therapy, it creates an environment that limits cancer cell survival and growth.

Ozone may be used in conjunction with chemotherapy or radiation for cancer treatments.

6. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is usually treated first by splinting the wrist. When the splinting is used in conjunction with the injection of ozone, the symptoms may be improved in mild to moderate cases.

Research has shown that using splinting and ozone have shown significantly better results than splinting alone.

7. Skin Conditions

Ozone can be administered as local injections to help improve infectious skin diseases, psoriasis, and other skin-related allergies. It may also be used in the prevention and management of rosacea and acne.

8. Rheumatoid Arthritis

An autoimmune disorder that causes pain and inflammation that can often lead to disability, rheumatoid arthritis is often debilitating. When you use ozone therapy for rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation and pain can be reduced while it strengthens the immune system. It can also activate the body’s antioxidant defense system while it improves oxygen delivery and circulation.
